Shadi Vahdat, MD came into her passion for functional medicine very personally, finding her way after she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and was offered only immune suppressing medication. She had recently finished medical training and knew she wanted a different approach to treating her condition. She realized suppressing the symptoms wasn’t doing anything to actually treat or change the root cause of her medical condition. Pursuing a new course for her health journey resulted in a new course for her patients. She sought additional training in nutritional and lifestyle medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, yoga, meditation and ultimately functional medicine. She continues to take care of hospital patients as assistant clinical professor at the University of California, Los Angeles and also teaches doctors in training. She has authored several research papers in cardiovascular medicine and is a regular medical contributor for a number of publications. In her free time she enjoys hiking, aerial acrobatics, and traveling with her husband and two teenage daughters.
Dr. Vahdat is board-certified in internal medicine and integrative medicine. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of California, Berkeley and her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NYC. Since the completion of her medical training she has worked in a number of different types of health settings from non-profit health clinics, to her own private practice and university based hospital centers. She’s now joined True Health Center for Precision Medicine as a Telemedicine practitioner, offering flexibility for patients to be seen from the comfort of their home. Dr. Vahdat offers a diverse and seasoned background to help patients reach their health goals.
